This beautifully realistic wood rose starts with a trip to the lumber yard. After reviewing dozens of pine boards a special piece with a particular grain pattern is chosen. This is then carefully cut down to size on a table saw.
The next step is to take a finely tuned hand plane with a blade which has been sharpened to a razors edge to shave a paper thin layer of wood. this shaving is then artistically cut into the shape of the individual rose petals and assembled into a half open rose bloom.
The stem is fashioned from a Aspen board chosen for it's tight grain and superior strength and carved to simulate an actual rose stem.
Two wood leaves are attached and the block of lumber has been transformed into a unique work of art which will last indefinitely.
Each rose is a one of a kind and measures approximately 11 inches long and the bloom is about.2.5 inches wide.
